Legislatures from California to New Jersey are facing difficult decisions about sustainable tax burdens, and the viability of spending programs. Those lessons are good for States to learn and our Federal government should take notes.

    Obama is suddenly worried about debt. Since we elect leaders to Congress and the White House, one might think they have the power to cut spending. Evidently, that’s a common misconception. A debt commission wouldn’t reduce spending though. It will only raise taxes.
