Rolling Rock Beer

I remember in the 90′s hearing a radio ad campaign celebrating one beer’s ability to be right in the middle (not too heavy and not too watery). The ad goes on to tell us that there is too much in the world that’s too far to one side or the other, and what’s wrong with just being in the center?
I appreciate what they are going for in the ad. I don’t personally appreciate the hottest possible hot wing on earth, but I sure don’t like the wimpiest ones either. I can probably think of lots of food analogies that work.
Sadly, the Rolling Rock argument is being used in politics now. The Democrats have informed us that no one likes the far-right. Some Republicans have jumped on board, too. Like Kirk Dillard (IL gubernatorial candidate) appearing in an ad praising Obama. Or here’s a fun one: John McCain sponsoring and co-authoring a bill that the Supreme Court has ruled isn’t even Constitutional. All of this to meet the left where they want to meet – on the left.
Its little wonder us “idiots” out here in the populous aren’t very excited about a candidate like McCain. What’s to be excited about? Half of the GOP is a nice non-offensive, watered down Rolling Rock.
Oh and, by the way – I do like Rolling Rock beer, and medium hot-wings. Just leave the mediocrity out of politics, please.
